morning

this morning i woke up before sunrise and went for a hike in the mountains.
the simplicity, quiet and surprising wildflowers of the desert were refreshing.

palm springs photo festival

palm springs photo festival

i heading out to palm springs this week for an epic photography conference: palm springs photo festival. click here for more info. i’m really excited, and its quite an honor that adobe has asked me to give a few presentations on photoshop and lightroom and i’ll be doing some one-on-one tech consultations. both of those responsibilities will be a ton of fun, but even more i’m looking forward to having the chance to hang out with other photographers in order to grow and expand.

if you happen to be attending the conference, please be sure to swing by and say hello!

triathlete magazine cover

cover

today i walked into borders’s and was surprised and stoked to see that the latest issue of triathlete magazine hit the stands! (i snapped the above pic with my iphone). for this issue i shot the cover and interior photos for an article on uber triathlete and good friend chris lieto.  it sounds goofy but it is always so fun to see your photos in print. and plus, my mom even called me from barnes and noble where she saw the issue and she told me she was proud :)

chris lieto cover

after looking around at some of the other magazines, i noticed another friend todd glasser’s cover photo on surfer magazine. the whole thing brought another big smile to my face.  knowing that i needed to seize the moment, before i left i rearranged the magazine racks to make for a better show  ;)

i’ll have some more photos to post from these issues, yet for now thanks for sharing in the joy of it all. cheers.

sophia / yosemite

sophia

digging through the archives today i came across this photo of sophia from last summer in yosemite. i couldn’t resist posting it as it brought back some good memories.

on that particular morning, i woke up early to go and take some pictures while my wife kelly stayed with the kids. when i came back they were still asleep so i rekindled the fire and waited. eventually i heard something stirring in the tent. sophia was the first to wake up and i was ready with camera in hand to camera her peaking out of the tent.
