the best house warming gift ever!

above is an iphone pic (taken this morning) of the best house warming gift ever – a bee hive! my good friend greg lawler gave us this wonderful gift. and it gets even better… greg not only built the hive box, he custom-built the copper roof and he actually caught the hive himself!

greg gave us the hive as a house warming gift and we’re all pretty excited. i can’t wait to start working with the hive… and of course to harvest the honey :)

    I LOVE it!! what a great idea! We planted a honey bee garden in our little patio, they love it. But to harvest your own honey? how awesome! :)

    Hope some of your bees fly my way. Figure since I’m a 1/3rd mile away from you I’d see a few of your bees from time to time. Nice to know there is a hive in the neighborhood.

    Also, did you notice that there is a major hive above Blue Bee Men in downtown Santa Barbara at the roof line going into the building? Ironic?
