i had the chance to chat with jay maisel for a few minutes today. something he said struck a chord, “…you should never take a picture without a trigger. only take pictures when something compels you to move.”

Wow! This comment hit me hard. In the last couple of days I have been trying to force my photography. I could not see anything but felt the pressure to preform. I have been so frustrated and then I read this quote and now have been validated.

Forcing a picture is like forcing love, you can do it, but everyone will see the outcome for what it is.

Jay Maisel is my hero. I tried to explain to some of my friends why I don’t take pictures all of the time, non-stop…simply because the shot didn’t interest me.

He also makes a good point, throw the ISO as high as you can so you can capture anything. So the other day I did, and thank God I did! haha. Sometimes it more about what you just captured than how technically sharp it is.
