new lynda.com courses on people photography!

i am incredibly excited to let you know that i have two new people photography courses that have just been released on lynda.com! above are some screen shots from the first course – i’ll post more about the second course later. the courses are called: narrative photography:  foundations of portraiture & on location in nyc

foundations of portraiture (click here)
is all about the critical thinking, philosophical approach and reflections of what it takes to make strong portraits.

on location in nyc (click here)
is the course where all of the ideas and ideals are put into practice. in this course we travel to new york city and photograph a leading broadway performer on the brooklyn bridge.

i hope you enjoy them and i’d love to hear your thoughts! (click on the course names to check them out)

thanks!

douglas kirkland

this photo was captured of douglas in his home (in the garage) in the hollywood hills (click on the photo for a larger view). douglas is someone who inspires me with his down-to-earth and enthusiastic approach to photography. for this portait, i was using the 5dmii and 85mm lens with natural light. that’s a combo i have been enjoying and using a lot these days. the lenses i’m using most these days are:  85, 50, 35. i’m always curious to hear what others are using for their people photography work. what’s your “go to” set up?

gerry lopez

gerry is one of the most genuine and kind people i have ever met.

sojourner of the sea

i came across this photo of christian beamish that i took a while back. at first i didn’t like it that much. yet now i do. it’s funny how time changes the way we see and what we like. does anyone else ever experience that?
