Chris,

My name is Charlie Lytton and I am a Senior Imaging Technician and Training Supervisor for the Digital Imaging Services at the National Geographic Society in Washington,D.C. Recently I completed your course on Lynda.com Enhancing Digital Photography with CS2, I very much liked the course and learned a great deal and am in the process of currently implementing some of the techniques into our lab procedures. As I was going through the movies I was impressed about your passion for photography, working for one of the premier organizations in the field for almost 40 years I also share that passion for images. I would like to extend to you an invitation to tour our lab and observe how we prepare images for publication in the National Geographic Magazine, and our other publications as well as for exhibits for our photographers. I would also like to show you some of the other areas of the organization whose mission is images. In my 40 year career here at NGS I have had the high privilege to be associated with some of the best photographers in the world and am always willing to share with others in this wonderful art.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Charlie Lytton
National Geographic Society

Hey Chris, I am absolutely elated now that I have finished your tutorial.  I don't know what not to say!!!  It has truly opened my eyes and given me a fresh lease on being a photographer. Since I left my job to follow my dream of being a photographer, or visual creator of some sort, I have gone through waves of feeling unworthy, untalented, and unprepared.  I have been bogged down with feelings of not having the right equipment, not having the right environment, and overall just not being able to create any profound imagery.  After watching these movies I feel completely reassured that all it takes is time and patience.  With Chris' guidance everything has become clear and manageable.  I CAN do this! Chris Orwig is SUCH a talented teacher in that he shares his passion for photography and life...it is infectious!  His creative tips seem as though they come from someone well beyond his years.  I played them for my fiance (who is completely technologically challenged) and he found them to be just as inspiring!  Chris Orwig helps you prepare for every goal that you set for yourself, not just taking meaningful photographs.  Many people in the creative and photography field are guarded, cold and elitist but not Chris Orwig. Throughout the tutorial he is warm, friendly and answers every question before you think to ask it. I have no doubt that I will watch these movies over and over again as I continue my journey of becoming a photographer.

Thank you Chris!

First of all, I don't send letters like this. I just don't. I've gone completely digital in my photography. I've been studying PhotoShop for a few years. You know, I thought I had a pretty good handle on it. But, I saw Chris Orwigs class. I thought I'd check it out. Oh my goodness--goodness gracious, and all the things I can say in mixed company. I'm a little over 1/2 way through the class and my photography has been changed COMPLETELY. I'm totally blown out of the water. I hang around with nature and landscape photography buffs in northern Nevada and the Sierra Nevada Mountains area. I'm blowing their minds with what I'm now producing. One of my friends told me he was going to throw away his camera and take up golf. :O)

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Graham

Hey Chris, I'm going through your Enhancing Digital Photography training on Lynda.com and just had to write and tell you thanks. You explain everything is such easy to understand detail and your happy, positive way shines through. I've listened to a few other tutorials on Lynda.com and have to say that I wish you taught all of them. Not everyone has your skill and pleasant vibe. This is by far the most helpful instruction in Photoshop that I have had.

Thank you.
Justin H.

Chris -

Taking your Photoshop training was supposed to be my way of improving my meager digital photography skills, but it ended up changing, how I view the world around me (really). I'm seeing color and images connected in ways I never had. The conceptual development in the lessons was outstanding and always readily applicable. Sure, my postproduction work became more appealing, but I realized more of these skills had been internalized than I thought when had a couple of folks at work asked me to sit down so they could watch my workflow. I found this ironic since the reason I pursued the training was to have the opportunity to do what I could never do otherwise - sit down and be mentored by you - one-on-one - at my own pace. Great work!

Thanks,
Rich

Hey Chris,

My name is Adam and I felt compelled to contact you after viewing your Enhancing Digital Photography with Adobe Photoshop tutorial. This is an extremely informative tutorial and your passion as a photographer and an educator is very apparent and makes the movies very enjoyable. Straight away I looked for your name on the internet and I love your images. If I can obtain a minute fraction of your knowledge and skill I will be very happy. Anyway, good luck with your future projects and hope all is well.

Adam G.

Hey Chris, I've been a member of Lynda's for a few months now, and I can honestly say that I've gotten more out of your tutorials than all others combined. You have great enthusiasm and an excellent way of delivering information. I appreciate the way you make sure to credit past influences/inspirations and create some sort of visual/mental reference to make info "sticky". Hope to see more from you in the future, and best of luck on your endeavors.

Regards,
Chris S.

Hi Chris, Just looking at your portfolio on the web - really nice stuff you got. You don't know me but i just finished your training videos on enhancing digital photography in photoshop and i thought i'd check out your site. Just wanted to say a big thanks for doing that training series.  Been using photoshop for years for general illustrations but never knew how to get the most out of my photos.  Has really helped a lot and have found a newly revived interest in photography (had it not been for your video i probably wouldn't have seen it the same way).  Can't wait to get out to some other parts of the world now and get started. So many thanks, it really made a difference.

All the best man,
Rich

I have taken MANY Photoshop classes, read lots of books, done tons of exercises and thought of myself as an intermediate to advanced Photoshop user. Well, this series has shown me that the more you learn, the more you realize you do not know and the more there is to benefit from additional training. This is the first series where I actually stop every single movie at least once to take notes. Chris has taught me more in the first half of this series then any other training tool has taught me in it's whole, and I have used some great training tools. I do hope that Chris will be doing other advanced Photoshop series with you. He must have much more to share with all of us. At least I hope so. Thank you from a long time subscriber, Leslie D. You take photography to a whole new level with your incredible compositions, and your talents (free  spirit) for capturing the  heart and soul of the world.

Magnificent.
Julie

Mr. Orwig, I just finished watching your entire "Enhancing Digital Photography with Photoshop CS2" course on Lynda.com. I wanted to thank you for creating it. I started out watching these just to gain more knowledge to pass the Adobe Photoshop CS2 certification test, but your passion and excellent teaching skills inspired me and gave me a renewed passion for photography and photoshop work. I really wish you had been my instructor in college. Your work and teaching skills are excellent and your passion is contagious.

Thanks again.
Casey

I have taken several courses through your Online Training Library, and I have to say that this title was one of your strongest. Though every course that I have taken provides exceptional training, this Photoshop course was so energetic and full of great real-world tips, tricks, and stories — it made me want to keep coming back for more. Great job! I would love to take more courses from Chris Orwig — especially a course on general photography! Thanks so much for providing this and all of your titles.

Sincerely,
Matt

i'm just sitting at home because i'm sick and can't work, so the best thing to do for me in "my free time" is sitting in front of your lynda-video and following your exercises. i'm just in the layers-exercise where you tip to your web site, so here i am! i think you just created a great video with beautiful pictures, i was trying a lot of ways to learn photoshop, your video is now the key. greetings from all away in switzerland, a lot of my friends just bought the video too after i've showed them mine.

So keep your great work on!

Good Morning Chris,

Just wanted to flick you a quick email to thank you for your work on the training video Enhancing Digital Photography with Photoshop CS. I was so enthused after viewing it, not just to focus more on my retouching work, but to get out and take more photos.

You live in a great part of the world as well - I spent a few weeks in California a few years ago, and loved the drive from LA to San Francisco - what a buzz, and the visit to Santa Barbara was a treat, as was the trip to Hearst Castle in San Simeon. Hopefully I'll get back to the US again soon, but for now I'll enjoy spring in Sydney (Australia).

Take care, and thanks again for the inspiration.
Tony

I just had to say thank.

I've been into photography for about two years now. I recently made the jump into its digital realm. Ironically, even though I'm in the IT field professionally, post-processing my shots has never been an area of any strength for me. I've been blindly using Photoshop CS2 for months now with nothing but tips from fellow photographers to help me out. That is up until I chanced upon a friend watching one of your movie tutorial clips for PS CS2. I never thought anyone could present the concepts with actual practical use so comprehensible that even a dinosaur like me could get it.

And the site itself has come to rescue me a number of times now. Again, thank you. I hope you?ll be able to keep up all the good work. As I?m sure a lot of people like me out there really appreciate all the hard work and dedication.

More power to you, all your endeavors and your whole family.
Troy

I'm about 10 hours into your tutorial workshop on Lynda.com and just wanted to say "thanks." You have a tremendous spirit and ability to teach. I considered myself a pretty competent Photoshop user before your lessons ... now, as I told my good friend today, I think I've moved from the subjective to the scientific. Hell, I think I might even be a better person.....LOL.... Truly, your passion is evident and inspiring.

Take care,
Jackson

Its just great..... just finished the first cd. You are so good in expressing and teaching the details of Photshop and Photgraphy....wow....U r blessed. I have never in my life saw such a nice explanation with nice examples, which just fit directly in the head. I wish there were many people like u in this world.... Well, after watching your tutorials on bit depth 1 2  3, I watched the first chapter on resizing images. After that.....I said the 'f'' word.....Darn it, I knew nothing about the default of the resampling. I had no idea what resampling was. Man o man, what an education today has been. Thank goodness I have all my original files untouched, and most of the new stuff is all in raw. Thanks again for your excellent teaching, including your fun analogies. These tutorials were at Lynda.com, in Enhancing Digital Photography with Photoshop CS. My work will now be so much more professional, due to your instruction.

Jay

Your site is fantastic - my husband was glued to it and kept commenting about how you look at simple things and make them a work of art! I have to say the Indian corn, pumpkin stem and candy apples are spectacular examples.

I moved from Florida to Venice beach a month and a half ago to try to break into the world of commercial photography. Long story short it's been anything but easy. I was turned onto Lynda.com two days ago by an acquaintance at a photoshop seminar. Bottom line, I cannot thank you enough. I watched your entire image retouching seminar in two days and I can honestly say, I wish I had you to teach me from the start. All the money and time I spent taking photoshop classes hasn't even touched on 1/100 of the material I've learned the past two days. I'm sure you get e-mails like this every day, but honestly you're one of the best teachers I've ever had.

Hopefully I'll see you in the line up one day and thank you in person.
Ryan
